TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Ariana Grande has officially announced her eighth studio album, Petal, which is set for release on July 31, marking her return to music after focusing on film and other projects.
The singer revealed the album title and release date via social media, alongside its cover art—a close-up, black-and-white image showing Grande smiling with her hair falling across her face. The project will be released under Republic Records and is executive-produced and co-written with longtime collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh.
As reported by Deadline, Grande described Petal as “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging,” signaling a reflective and emotionally driven body of work.
The album follows her 2024 release Eternal Sunshine, which topped the Billboard 200 and produced hit singles including “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).”
Grande had previously hinted at new music through subtle clues, including social media posts and studio photos, despite earlier suggesting she would need “an extra brain and four more arms” to complete a summer release.
According to Billboard, Petal is expected to feature 12 tracks and will be released in the middle of Grande’s upcoming Eternal Sunshine tour, which begins on June 8 in Oakland, California, and concludes on September 1 in London.
The singer’s schedule remains packed beyond music. She is set to appear in several major productions, including Wicked: For Good, directed by Jon M. Chu, where she stars as Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo. The film is slated for release on November 21.
Grande will also feature in Focker-In-Law, the latest installment in the Meet the Parents franchise, while continuing her role in American Horror Story Season 13. In addition, she is preparing for a stage debut in a revival of Sunday in the Park With George in London.
Despite her ventures into acting and business—including her cosmetics brand R.E.M. Beauty—Grande reaffirmed her commitment to music. “Of course, music will be in my life forever,” she said in a previous interview.
Her return comes after years of reflection following her last tour in 2019. Ariana Grande has described her renewed relationship with music as a healing process after feeling disconnected from the pressures of pop stardom.
With Petal, Grande signals the start of a new artistic chapter, blending personal growth with a busy, multi-platform career.
