Bournemouth dijadwalkan menjamu Crystal Palace dalam pertandingan lanjutan Liga Inggris di Vitality Stadium pada Minggu, 3 Mei 2026, pukul 14.00 waktu setempat. Laga ini krusial bagi kedua tim saat kompetisi memasuki fase akhir musim.

Tuan rumah saat ini menempati peringkat ketujuh klasemen sementara dengan rekor 14 pertandingan tak terkalahkan di liga, rekor terpanjang saat ini. Sementara itu, Crystal Palace berada di posisi ke-13 dan sedang berjuang menghadapi jadwal padat serta badai cedera pemain kunci.

"I think only Manchester City and Arsenal have less goals conceded than Palace. It means that it's very difficult to score against Palace. They defend so well, so organized, and they are after very— it's a very well-coached team. They know what they are doing," kata Iraola.

Pelatih asal Spanyol tersebut menyoroti konsistensi sistem permainan Palace yang jarang berubah dan kemampuan mereka dalam memulai pertandingan dengan sangat kuat di menit-menit awal. Ia menegaskan timnya harus tetap fokus pada skema serangan terbuka untuk membongkar pertahanan lawan.

"Consistent, normally the lineups quite consistent, the system is always the same, but the things they do, they do them so well that it's difficult to create clear chances against Palace," papar Iraola.

Iraola menambahkan bahwa detail terkecil dalam pertandingan, terutama situasi bola mati, akan menjadi faktor penentu kemenangan mengingat sejarah pertemuan kedua tim yang biasanya berlangsung sangat ketat di lapangan.

"And it's a team normally that starts very well the games. You see the goals they've conceded at the beginning is, I think it's like two goals in the first 30 minutes in all the league or something like this. It's like, it's a team that normally starts really well the game. So we have to start very strong," ucap Iraola.

Bournemouth berambisi mencetak gol lebih awal sebagaimana yang mereka lakukan saat menghadapi Leeds United sebelumnya. Keunggulan fisik karena memiliki waktu istirahat lebih lama dibandingkan Palace yang bermain di tengah pekan menjadi keuntungan tersendiri bagi Cherries.

"We want always, like always, no, score the first goal. A bit like Leeds, a little bit different. Probably the game is going to open a little bit in the second half, but we have to arrive there with our chances," tutur Iraola.

Strategi bertahan dan menyerang pada situasi set-piece menjadi perhatian khusus sang manajer. Hal ini didasari pengamatan bahwa kedua tim sering kali produktif sekaligus rentan saat menghadapi skema bola mati dari lawan.

"I would say both teams, no, we've been better probably in offensive set plays than defensive set plays. They've also scored but also conceded a lot of goals set plays, and it has happened the same for us and they are going to be decisive set plays," ungkap Iraola.

Meskipun pihak lawan diprediksi akan melakukan rotasi pemain akibat kelelahan kompetisi Eropa, Iraola tetap menginstruksikan anak asuhnya untuk waspada. Ia menilai kedalaman skuad Palace tetap mampu memberikan ancaman yang setara siapa pun yang diturunkan.

"But probably even paying attention to all those details, we want to focus on the open play, how to attack against them, how to find if they have any weaknesses at the back, try to push them, put them under pressure. They are coming also from playing [in midweek]," jelas Iraola.

Keunggulan jadwal tanpa pertandingan di hari Kamis diharapkan dapat dimanfaatkan Bournemouth untuk memberikan tekanan tinggi sejak peluit pertama dibunyikan. Iraola memperkirakan versi terbaik dari Palace akan tetap tampil kompetitif di Vitality Stadium.

"They've shown enough this season that they can deal with both competitions, but still we have the advantage that we haven't played Thursday, so I hope we can put pressure onto them," kata Iraola.

Terkait susunan pemain, Iraola mengaku sulit menebak siapa saja yang akan masuk dalam daftar sebelas pertama tim tamu. Fleksibilitas rotasi di posisi gelandang serang dan penyerang menjadi tantangan tersendiri bagi persiapan taktis Bournemouth.

"We do not know the starting 11. No, we know more or less what they have done the previous games where they've rotated a little bit the team, but the rotation at the end, they have some players that the level is very similar. So, you don't really know who is the starter, who is the especially in some specific positions, they change the number 10s, the midfielders, the number 9s," ujar Iraola.

Persaingan perebutan tiket kompetisi Eropa menjadi motivasi tambahan bagi Bournemouth yang saat ini hanya terpaut satu poin dari Brighton. Kemenangan atas Palace akan memperkokoh posisi mereka di papan atas klasemen Liga Inggris.

"Now they have options and they can change the team. And also, the ones that don't start will be on the bench ready. So, I am still expecting the best Palace, like happened against Leeds, that everyone was talking about the cup and this, and they came here and they put the starting 11 and they went strong. And with Palace, we with the normal changes and like we do also. But we expect the best version of Palace," tutur Iraola.

Pertemuan terakhir kedua klub di Selhurst Park pada Oktober 2025 berakhir imbang dengan skor 3-3. Namun, secara historis, duel kedua tim sering kali berjalan buntu dengan produktivitas gol yang rendah di setiap laganya.

"We have to take— every detail is going to be very important because I think the 3-3 we had against them, it's the exception. I think most of their games are quite tight and every goal is very important," kata Iraola.

Fokus penuh pada detail pertahanan menjadi prioritas Iraola setelah timnya kebobolan dua kali melalui situasi lemparan ke dalam pada laga sebelumnya. Ia menegaskan timnya harus bekerja keras secara ofensif tanpa mengharapkan kesalahan dari lini belakang lawan.

"I think all our games I remember have been very tight. I think we tied the last 3-3, I think we won one, but everything has been like very level, no, between these two teams, and I expect the same on Sunday. I think set plays are going to be massive," ujar Iraola.

Kesalahan sekecil apa pun dalam menjaga lawan bisa merusak seluruh rencana permainan yang telah disusun dengan baik. Iraola menuntut konsentrasi tinggi dari seluruh pemain untuk menjaga tren positif Bournemouth di kandang sendiri.

"We are coming from conceding two long throws. They scored even yesterday a long throw, so we have to pay attention to these details because a lot of times you are doing a lot of things, you are doing good things, and then you make one mistake in a set piece and everything goes down," tutur Iraola.

Pertandingan 3-3 sebelumnya dinilai sebagai anomali yang sulit dijelaskan secara taktis karena biasanya kedua pelatih lebih mengutamakan kedisiplinan posisi. Keberhasilan Eli Junior Kroupi mencetak gol cepat pada saat itu menjadi pemicu permainan terbuka yang tidak terduga.

"I think we have to be focused. We have to be focused because it's a team that in the other way they will not give us anything. Every goal we score or everything is because we've done something good and properly. They don't make mistakes at the back and we will have to earn everything offensively," pungkas Iraola.

Terakhir, Iraola mengingat kembali bagaimana gol dari skema tendangan sudut yang dicetak Kroupi mengubah dinamika pertandingan sebelumnya. Meski demikian, ia tetap memprediksi laga hari Minggu nanti akan berjalan lebih tertutup.

"[The 3-3 draw] was a difficult thing to explain, probably, no, because we probably expected a 0-0. I think Oliver also said it before the game, and after the game went completely different. We scored very early, a corner routine, Eli Junior Kroupi scored, and then probably this made the game open, no," kenang Iraola.

Bournemouth optimis dapat mempertahankan momentum positif mereka di hadapan pendukung sendiri. Kendali permainan di babak pertama menjadi kunci utama untuk meredam strategi defensif yang biasanya diterapkan oleh skuad Crystal Palace.

"I think it's a team that especially in the beginning of the games, in the first halves, they control very well the game. You don't see situations where they start losing 1-0. It's very strange in Palace. They start well normally, they score a lot of times the first goal, they don't concede," tutup Iraola.

Iraola menyimpulkan bahwa meskipun segala kemungkinan bisa terjadi dalam sepak bola, ia tidak mengharapkan drama enam gol terulang kembali. Persiapan matang telah dilakukan untuk menghadapi segala skenario yang mungkin terjadi di lapangan.

"I think it didn't go that way the game, and it became more open, especially second half. But I don't think, I don't expect another 3-3 on Sunday. But we'll see what happens. You never know," pungkas Iraola.
