TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - BTS is confirmed to make a special appearance at the 52nd American Music Awards (AMAs), CBS and Dick Clark Productions (DCP) announced on Wednesday, May 20. This will be their first award show appearance in four years after the seven-member group completed their mandatory military services.

Last March, BTS made a full-circle comeback with an album titled ARIRANG as well as launching an ambitious world tour across multiple continents, including Asia, North America, and Europe. The much-anticipated album inevitably received praises from ARMY–the group’s fans, and stacked all kinds of nods from the industry.

Since debuting at the 2017 American Music Awards, BTS has made history time and time again, winning 11 trophies under their belts. In 2026 AMAs, the Korean boy group is nominated for Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer for Swim, and Best Male K-pop Artist.

The group’s latest LP, ARIRSNG continues its global momentum with lead single Swim reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while also holding the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 for four consecutive weeks.

This summer, BTS is also scheduled to co-headline the first-ever halftime show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final alongside Shakira and Madonna in July.

Meanwhile, the American Music Awards will take place on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, airing live at 8 p.m. ET on Paramount+ and CBS. Queen Latifah, who last hosted the ceremony three decades ago, is set to return as this year’s host.
