TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in several regions of Indonesia on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
BMKG forecaster Selly Brilian, in a weather forecast broadcast in Jakarta on Sunday, stated that heavy to very heavy rain is potential in West Java, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Maluku.
"Preparedness for the potential for heavy to very heavy rain in West Java, East Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku is needed," she said.
Selly urged the public to be aware of potential rain with lightning in Palembang, Bandar Lampung, and Banjarmasin.
Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is forecast for Bandung, Mamuju, and Nabire in eastern Indonesia.
"For eastern Indonesia, be aware of the potential for moderate rainfall in Mamuju and Nabire," he said.
Furthermore, he said, several other cities are also likely to experience similar rainfall intensity. These cities include Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Tanjungpinang, Jambi, Bengkulu, most of Java, Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, and Palangka Raya.
Light rainfall is forecast for several areas in eastern Indonesia, including Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, most of Sulawesi, Ambon, Sorong, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and Merauke.
Selly stated that the BMKG also predicts heavy cloud cover in Pangkalpinang and Pontianak. Meanwhile, moderate cloud cover is forecast for Ternate and Manokwari. Furthermore, hazy air is also expected in Banda Aceh.
The BMKG urges the public to remain vigilant for potential extreme weather and to regularly update weather information through the agency's official website and social media channels.
