Jakarta Police Probe Alleged Child Prostitution by Japanese National

Sedang Trending 44 menit yang lalu

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metropolitan Police is investigating allegations of pedophilia or child exploitation involving a Japanese national following reports that circulated widely on social media platform X.

Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the case remains under investigation.

“It is still under investigation, as the information currently circulating originated from social media,” Budi said when contacted on Friday, May 15, 2026.

He said the investigation involves multiple police units, including the Directorate for Women and Child Protection, the Directorate for Human Trafficking Crimes, and the Cyber Crime Directorate.

The allegations first gained attention after a Japanese-language post from the X account @hunter_tnok claimed that a Japanese citizen had traveled to Jakarta and engaged in child prostitution while recording the acts.

“A Japanese man traveled to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and was involved in child prostitution, and recorded it,” the translated post stated.

The account also uploaded screenshots allegedly showing posts from the suspected perpetrator’s X account. In one post, the individual claimed Indonesian police raided his hotel room on Aug. 15, 2025, but later released him without charges, allowing him to leave Indonesia safely.

The alleged post further claimed that police officers viewed explicit videos found during the raid and treated him amicably throughout the process.

Another X account, @bnfi, said it had received reports from internet users accompanied by screenshots of conversations alleging that a Japanese national had exploited teenagers aged 16 to 17 in the Blok M area of South Jakarta.

However, on Thursday, May 14, the account issued a correction, saying the alleged incidents did not occur in Blok M but in the Tenda Biru area of Bekasi Regency, West Java. The account said the earlier location reference resulted from an automatic translation error.

Another account, @SistersInDanger, posted similar allegations, claiming that multiple Japanese nationals regularly traveled to Indonesia to target minors.

“He’s not alone. There are so many Japanese pedophiles coming here every month. They feel safe, like they’re in their own colony,” the account wrote.

As of Friday, the post had received more than 37,000 likes and had been reposted over 19,000 times on X.

Police have not yet disclosed the identity of the alleged suspect or confirmed the authenticity of the social media posts circulating online.
