TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto conducted a surprise inspection at the Bulog Danurejo Warehouse in Magelang, Central Java. Prabowo inspected the rice warehouse after delivering a directive to the chairpersons of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from across Indonesia at the Military Academy on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the inspection aimed to ensure the availability and smooth distribution of the national food reserves. According to Teddy, this visit is one of the government's efforts to maintain the stability of rice supply in the region.
Teddy said that the inspection was Prabowo's initiative, "The President suddenly asked to visit the Bulog warehouse in Magelang or Yogyakarta upon returning from the event with the DPRD leaders," he said in a written statement.
During his visit, Prabowo emphasized that in addition to availability, the quality of rice must also be maintained. "And its distribution must be timely and targeted so that the benefits can be truly felt by the people," said Teddy.
He stated that the inspection is part of the government's commitment to ensuring the country meets the basic needs of its people. "This is the government's commitment to strengthen national food security," said Teddy.
According to the Presidential Secretariat, the Bulog Danurejo Warehouse consists of two buildings with a total capacity of 7,000 tons. When Prabowo visited the location, the warehouse was said to be fully stocked. The Cabinet Secretariat stated that the stock in the warehouse is in very good condition to support the needs of the city and regency of Magelang.
Prior to the surprise inspection of the Bulog warehouse, President Prabowo attended a retreat of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
The National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) held a retreat for hundreds of DPRD chairpersons from April 15 to 19, 2026. A total of 557 legislative council chairpersons were invited to this retreat, including 38 provincial, 93 city, and 415 regency representatives.
A total of 11 members of the Association of Regency DPRD Chairpersons from all over Indonesia were also involved in this retreat. However, only 479 of the 557 DPRD chairpersons were recorded to have attended the retreat.
Lemhanas Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily said that The purpose of organizing a retreat for all chairpersons of the DPRD is to enhance the institution's capacity to face the challenges of national and regional development. "Participants are encouraged to become strategic partners of regional governments and agents of change," said Ace, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Retreats are often held during the administration of Prabowo Subianto. Previously, retreats were also mandated for the ministers of the Red and White Cabinets and regional heads.
