TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government will not pursue the assets of taxpayers who joined Indonesia’s tax amnesty program through the Voluntary Disclosure Program (PPS), while reaffirming that no further tax amnesty policy will be introduced.
Purbaya said assets previously disclosed by business owners and taxpayers under earlier tax amnesty schemes would not be re-examined.
“Going forward, they only need to pay taxes according to normal business activities and developments,” Purbaya said during a media briefing at his office on Monday, May 11, 2026.
The former chair of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) said the tax amnesty program had been completed. He added that participants would not face additional collection efforts, except for agreed payments that remain unpaid.
His remarks came amid reports that the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) planned to pursue participants in the voluntary disclosure program who had allegedly failed to fully report their assets. Purbaya said he would reprimand the tax office over such statements.
According to the finance minister, several announcements from the DJP had caused confusion among the public.
“There’s toll tax, this tax, that tax. In the future, only I can announce tax policies, not the director general of taxes, to avoid confusion,” he said.
Indonesia’s voluntary disclosure program was regulated under Law No. 7 of 2021 on the Harmonization of Tax Regulations. The tax amnesty policy has been implemented twice: first in 2016–2017, and again in 2022 through the Voluntary Disclosure Program, often referred to as the second tax amnesty.
Since taking office, Purbaya has repeatedly stated that the government does not plan to extend or repeat the tax amnesty program. In September 2025, he warned that repeated amnesties could encourage non-compliance among taxpayers.
“If there are multiple amnesties, it sends a signal to taxpayers that it is okay to violate the rules because there will be another amnesty in the future,” he said at the time.
