TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - US actor and producer Patrick Muldoon, known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Starship Troopers, has died at the age of 57 after suffering a heart attack at his home in Beverly Hills on Sunday, according to his manager as reported by Variety.
Muldoon was found unconscious in the bathroom by his girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, after going to take a shower. Paramedics attempted to revive him at the scene, but he could not be saved.
Born in San Pedro, California, Muldoon began his acting career while studying at the University of Southern California, appearing in television roles before landing a recurring part on Saved by the Bell shortly after graduating in 1991.
His breakthrough came with his role as Austin Reed in Days of Our Lives, where he starred from 1992 to 1995 and later returned in 2011. He also gained recognition for portraying villain Richard Hart in Melrose Place and Zander Barcalow in Starship Troopers (1997).
Muldoon remained active in the industry, recently reuniting with co-star Denise Richards for the upcoming crime thriller Dirty Hands, set for release this year.
Beyond acting, he pursued music as the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band The Sleeping Masses and worked as a producer on several films, including The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, and Marlowe. He was also involved in the upcoming film Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton.
In his final Instagram post, shared a day before his death, Muldoon expressed excitement about the project, writing that he was “so excited to be a part of this amazing project,” as cited by AOL.
Tributes poured in from colleagues and fans. Actress Alison Sweeney, who starred alongside him in Days of Our Lives, wrote: “This is such heartbreaking news. Pat was a rare kind of person—brilliantly talented, endlessly kind and generous in spirit.”
She added, “He brought his unique charm and humor to work every day. A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed.”
His Starship Troopers co-star Dina Meyer also paid tribute, saying: “Pat was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known and was like a brother to me… He was such a light, always making us laugh.”
Muldoon made his final public appearance at the 2026 Saturn Awards in March. He is survived by his partner Miriam Rothbart, his parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr, his sister Shana Muldoon-Zappa and her family.
