TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Green SM taxi driver with initials RRP has been named a suspect in the collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the Commuter Line (KRL) near East Bekasi Station.

The Head of the Traffic Unit of the Bekasi Metro Police, Commissioner Gefri Agitia, said the designation came after police probed witnesses and conducted an investigation.

"The KRL accident involving the Green SM taxi was caused by negligence of the driver named RRP," said Gefri in a statement on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Investigation results show the taxi with the license plate B 2864 SBX, driven by RRP, was traveling from the Duren Jaya area towards Ir. H. Juanda Street on Monday evening, April 27, 2026. At a level crossing without a safety barrier, the vehicle suddenly stalled and stopped in the middle of the railway track.

"The car stopped on track 1 and was then hit by the train from the west heading east," said Gefri.

As a result of the incident, the vehicle involved was damaged. For his actions, RRP is charged under Article 310 paragraph 1 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation with a penalty of six months in prison and a fine of Rp1 million.

"The traffic accident case involving the KRL and Green SM Taxi is a minor crime handled by a single judge in the Bekasi District Court and traffic accident investigators as the prosecutors," said Gefri.
