TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Even though the hearing stretched late into the night, Yohanes Setiawan could still clearly see and remember the bespectacled face displayed in the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The photograph showed Ahmad Dedi, a mid-level functional officer at the Directorate-General of Customs.
Yohanes was testifying in a customs import bribery case. Sitting in the defendant’s chair was John Field, the owner of Blueray Cargo, who was accused of bribing Customs officials. Yohanes was John’s personal assistant. He, John, and another cargo entrepreneur identified by the initials SP, also known as T, had once met Ahmad Dedi at a restaurant in Senayan City mall in South Jakarta in June 2025. “He was called Pak D,” Yohanes told the judges.
Dedi’s name suddenly emerged in the import bribery case being handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Investigators questioned Dedi on Friday, May 8, 2026. As he exited the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta, Dedi ran from reporters attempting to interview him. A video of Dedi running, posted on Tempo’s Instagram account, had been viewed 4.5 million times and 17.3 million times on TikTok as of May 23.
Yohanes’s testimony about the meeting in Senayan prompted a barrage of questions from prosecutor Muhammad Takdir Suhan. The exchange revealed that two other people had also attended the meeting, including Gito Huang, who was also described as an owner of Blueray Cargo. Blueray is the trademark of Torion Express Indonesia, a company that has existed since the 2000s.
