TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - U.S. President Donald Trump said he has long wanted to live in Buckingham Palace in London, adding that he plans to raise the idea with King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

King Charles III arrived in the United States on Monday, April 27, 2026, for an official state visit. During the trip, he is scheduled to address the U.S. Congress—marking the first speech by a British royal to the body since 1991.

"Wow, that's nice," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday, April 28, as reported by Sputnik and cited by Antara. "I've always wanted to live in Buckingham Palace!!! I'll talk to the King and Queen about this in a few minutes!!!"

Trump’s remark followed a report by the Daily Mail suggesting that he and King Charles share a distant familial link through a Scottish noble lineage, making them relatives separated by around 15 generations.

The comment was widely seen as lighthearted, made amid the British monarch’s high-profile visit aimed at strengthening U.S.-UK ties.

Earlier, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles III’s visit would proceed as planned despite security concerns following a shooting incident at a Washington hotel during a dinner attended by Trump and other officials.

Citing The Independent, the palace said the King was “greatly relieved” that Trump, the first lady, and other guests were unharmed after a gunman attempted to breach the venue.
