TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After 22 long years, Arsenal could finally log back into the Premier League winners list, clinching victory over Manchester City. Since finishing as runners-up for a third straight season behind Liverpool in the 2024-25 campaign, Arsenal heavily invested in strengthening their squad in hopes of finally reclaiming the title.

Despite Manchester City’s dominance with six titles in the previous eight seasons, the reigning champions were unable to close the gap to two points and push the title race to the final day.

ESPN says the Gunners went on to command much of the season, spending a remarkable 234 days at the top of the Premier League table across 32 gameweeks.

The Premier League is widely regarded as the most-watched football competition in the world, reaching an estimated 920 million homes across 189 countries.

Featuring some of the sport’s most iconic clubs, legendary players, renowned managers, and historic stadiums, the league runs annually from August to May, with 20 teams competing in a 380-match season played on a home-and-away format.

Manchester United remain the most successful club in Premier League history with a record 13 titles since the competition was rebranded in 1992. Under legendary manager Alex Ferguson, the club captured the inaugural Premier League crown in 1992/93 before building a dominant era with multiple championships throughout the 1990s and 2000s.

Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, Manchester City delivered one of the most dominant seasons in Premier League history by winning the 2017/18 title in emphatic fashion.

The club secured the championship with a record-breaking 19-point gap over rivals Manchester United, while also becoming the first team to reach 100 points in a single Premier League campaign.

Manchester City won 32 of its 38 league matches in 2017/18, the highest number of victories recorded in one season at the time, and overwhelmed opponents with an extraordinary attacking display that produced 106 goals.
