Indonesia National Team Schedule for June 2026 FIFA Matchday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has officially announced the national team's match schedule for the June 2026 FIFA Matchday period. The team, known as Garuda, will face Oman and Mozambique in a series called the Garuda Championship Series in June.

These two matches will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta. Indonesia is scheduled to play Oman on June 5, 2026, and Mozambique on June 9, 2026. Both matches will kick off at 8:00 PM Jakarta time.

Under the guidance of John Herdman, the team is determined to maximize its official FIFA international match quota from June 1 to 9, 2026. These two matches are not only a warm-up for the 2026 ASEAN Championship or AFF Cup, which will take place from July 24 to August 26, but they are also crucial for improving Indonesia's position in the FIFA rankings.

Currently, Indonesia is ranked 122nd in the world. As of April 1, 2026, Oman is ranked 79th and Mozambique is ranked 101st in the latest FIFA rankings.

Mozambique Arrives with Regeneration Mission

For Mozambique, the match against Indonesia is not just an ordinary friendly match. The game is part of their preparation for qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup. Mozambique is in Group J along with Senegal, Sudan, and Ethiopia. However, their preparation is taking place amid a transition phase following the retirement of three senior players: Dominguez, Mexer, and Reinildo, who retired from the national team in January 2026.

Coach Chiquinho Conde of Mozambique referred to the situation as an opportunity to start a new cycle for the national team while maintaining the playing identity formed in recent years. Conde said that efforts must be intensified both domestically and internationally to address the gaps left by these three key pillars, as quoted from Skor.id.

He stated that the match against Indonesia will be used to observe new players while refining the team's tactical approach. Conde admitted that Senegal is the main favorite in the qualifying group because they are one of the strongest forces in African football at present.

Nevertheless, he remains optimistic that Mozambique can still compete for a place in the final round. He said they will continue striving to maintain their participation in the African competition and aim to restore pride in Mozambican football.

Qualifications for the 2027 Africa Cup will take place from September 2026 to March 2027. The final tournament is scheduled to be held in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. The top two teams from each group will advance to the main phase of the competition.
