TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Deputy Governor of Central Java, Taj Yasin Maimoen, has assured that the geopolitical situation in the Middle East does not impact the safety of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. According to him, the government will provide security guarantees for the pilgrims during the pilgrimage.

Taj Yasin conveyed this after seeing off the first group of Hajj pilgrims from the Solo Embarkation Dormitory in Donohudan, Boyolali Regency, on Tuesday night, April 21, 2026. "God willing, everything will go smoothly, there won't be any issues," said Taj Yasin.

He explained that various geopolitical issues such as tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel have been a concern for the government. However, he stated that this situation will not disrupt the departure process or the safety of the pilgrims during their journey to the Holy Land. "We can ensure that the issues of concern, with Iran, the United States, Israel, everything is safe," he said.

Taj Yasin added that security guarantees also come from the Indonesian Government and the Saudi Arabian authorities who have coordinated regarding the organization of this year's Hajj pilgrimage. He mentioned that the flight routes have been prepared in such a way to ensure a safe journey, although there might be route adjustments. "I will check the flight routes later, I believe there will surely be," he said.

In addition to highlighting security aspects, he reminded pilgrims to maintain their health during the Hajj pilgrimage. According to him, the temperature in Saudi Arabia in April is still relatively cold, so pilgrims need to adapt well. "They just need to maintain their health," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of the role of Hajj personnel in providing maximum service to the pilgrims. Especially, some of the pilgrims who are departing are senior citizens who require special attention during the pilgrimage. "They surely need assistance and guidance," he said.

Taj Yasin specifically highlighted the role of healthcare workers, who are considered to have a major responsibility in accompanying the pilgrims. He requested that healthcare workers maintain their physical condition in order to provide optimal service while in the Holy Land. "Especially the healthcare workers," he said.

On Tuesday night, Taj Yasin saw off the departure of the Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia from the Donohudan Hajj Dormitory, Boyolali Regency. Deputy Head of the Preparation Division for Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims (PPIH) at the Solo Embarkation, David Fajar Saputra, explained that the first group consists of 4 pilgrimage officials, 2 regional pilgrimage officials, and 352 pilgrims from Tegal Regency and 2 pilgrims from Solo or Surakarta City. The two pilgrims from Surakarta are substitutes filling empty seats due to some pilgrims cancelling their trip. "So indeed, we took them from the nearest areas to the Embarkation," he said.

David added that all pilgrims were departed from Adi Soemarmo Airport with a scheduled takeoff at 01:09 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time) on early Wednesday, April 22, 2026. In total, the Solo Embarkation will send off 28,772 pilgrims in 81 groups with 321 pilgrimage officials.
