Jakarta Palace Recruits 'Homeless Media' as Government Partners

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Government's Communication Agency (Bakom) has established the New Media Forum, an initiative designed to amplify President Prabowo Subianto's programs through digital-first channels. Bakom Head Muhammad Qodari described the forum as a collective of "homeless media," which are independently managed news outlets.

"The presence of these new media friends reflects Bakom's effort to reach the public as widely as possible. Not only through conventional media but also through digital channels, which have become our communication reality today," he said during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

"Homeless media" refers to social media-based entities that lack dedicated websites or standalone applications. Their content is typically curated independently and distributed across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

Qodari noted that the New Media Forum includes prominent names such as Folkative, Indozone, Dagelan, Indomusikgram, Infipop, Narasi, Muslimvlog, Ussfeeds, Bapakbapak.ID, menjadimanusia, GNFI, Creativox, Kok Bisa, Taubaters, Pandemic Talks, and TaubaTers.

The partnership further extends to Kawan Hawa, Folix, Ngomongin Uang, Big Alpha, Good States, Hai Dulu, Proud Project, Vibes, Unframe, Kumpul Leaders, CXO Media, Volix Media, How To Do Nothing, Everless Media, Geometry Media, Folks Diary, Dream, Melodi Alam, NKTSHI, Modestalk, Lead Media, Nalar TV, Mahasiswa dan Jakarta, and North West.

Qodari explained that recruiting these outlets into the New Media Forum is part of a government effort to elevate the quality of digital reporting. While acknowledging that these platforms often face challenges regarding verification and the principles of balanced coverage, he emphasized their massive public reach.

"These media outlets already have a fairly large number of followers, potentially reaching up to 100 million, with views reaching billions, approximately 4 to 5 billion in a month," Qodari mentioned.
