Peterborough United Jaga Asa Bertahan di League One Jamu Mansfield Town

Peterborough United berupaya mengamankan posisi mereka di kompetisi League One saat dijadwalkan menjamu Mansfield Town di Stadion Weston Homes pada Selasa, 28 April 2026. Skuad berjuluk The Posh tersebut hanya membutuhkan tambahan satu poin guna memastikan secara matematis mereka tetap bertahan di divisi ketiga liga Inggris musim depan.

Klub besutan Luke Williams ini saat ini mengantongi keunggulan tiga poin atas Exeter City yang berada di zona merah. Selain keunggulan poin, faktor selisih gol yang mencapai angka enam membuat posisi tuan rumah berada di atas angin meski kewaspadaan tetap menjadi prioritas utama tim.

Manajer Peterborough United, Luke Williams, memberikan apresiasi tinggi terhadap kualitas permainan yang ditunjukkan lawan menjelang bentrokan krusial tersebut.

"We are facing a brilliant team," kata Williams, Manajer Peterborough United.

Williams mengakui performa Mansfield Town musim ini sangat solid dan menjadi salah satu tantangan terberat bagi skuadnya dalam beberapa pertemuan terakhir.

"I was so impressed with how they played against us earlier in the season. It was the best I’ve seen a team play against us," ujar Williams, Manajer Peterborough United.

Meski sempat menang 2-1 pada laga sebelumnya, sang manajer mengingatkan anak asuhnya untuk tetap tampil berani dan efisien dalam memanfaatkan setiap peluang di depan gawang.

"They were outstanding and yet we won the game thanks to a refusal to let the ball go into our net and because we were ruthless when we had the chance to score, so we know we can beat them no matter how good they are," tutur Williams, Manajer Peterborough United.

Klub berupaya menjaga momentum agar nasib mereka tidak bergantung pada hasil pertandingan tim lain di pekan-pekan krusial.

"It is hard to believe we are in the position we are, but we are still in control of our own fate and we have to be thankful for that," ungkap Williams, Manajer Peterborough United.

Strategi ofensif akan menjadi tumpuan tuan rumah dengan mengandalkan Harry Leonard yang telah mencetak 15 gol sepanjang musim untuk membongkar pertahanan lawan.

"I want us to be proactive though. I don’t want to see a team crossing their fingers and hoping to get through a game. We have to have the energy to defend and attack correctly in equal measures. We have to run through any uncertainty we have," tegas Williams, Manajer Peterborough United.

Penekanan pada aspek mental dan performa di dua laga kandang terakhir menjadi harapan utama tim untuk menutup musim dengan kesan positif.

"It has been a frustrating season, but we can still create a favourable lasting impression by playing well in our last two home matches," pungkas Williams, Manajer Peterborough United.

Di kubu lawan, Manajer Mansfield Town, Nigel Clough, menargetkan rekor tak terkalahkan dalam lima pertandingan beruntun meski timnya sudah tidak memburu tiket promosi.

"I think they will be quite expansive and attacking. I hope we play as well as we did in the home game," kata Clough, Manajer Mansfield Town.

Clough mewaspadai potensi tuan rumah yang diprediksi akan bermain terbuka demi mengejar poin penyelamat degradasi.

"We want to stay unbeaten. Our last two games are two teams who can do the double over us and we are conscious of that but it will be lovely to stay unbeaten until the end of the season," jelas Clough, Manajer Mansfield Town.

Kiper Mansfield Town, Liam Roberts, memperkirakan pertandingan akan berlangsung sengit karena gaya main kedua tim yang cenderung agresif menyerang.

"We are going to go for it, absolutely," ujar Roberts, Pemain Mansfield Town.

Ambisi untuk finis di posisi terbaik klasemen menjadi motivasi tambahan bagi seluruh penggawa tim tamu di penghujung musim 2026.

"We want to finish as high up the table as we possibly can," kata Roberts, Pemain Mansfield Town.

Roberts menyatakan optimisme terhadap perkembangan klub untuk menyongsong kompetisi musim mendatang dengan fondasi yang lebih kuat.

"It’s been a great season but there are games we should have got results in. It is an exciting time to be at the club going into next season, we are going to give it a right go," ucap Roberts, Pemain Mansfield Town.

Ia meyakini duel di Stadion Weston Homes akan memberikan tontonan berkualitas bagi para penggemar sepak bola netral.

"They love to go on the attack and we will do the same, it will be a good game for the neutral," tambah Roberts, Pemain Mansfield Town.

Mansfield Town dipastikan bertandang tanpa kekuatan penuh menyusul absennya sejumlah pemain kunci seperti Rhys Oates, Frazer Blake-Tracy, Baily Cargill, Luke Bolton, George Maris, dan Jordan Bowery akibat cedera.
