TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto said funds recovered from corrupt practices will be allocated to public services, including schools and community health centers, as part of the government’s efforts to prevent state losses.
Speaking at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Prabowo said seized state funds should be protected and returned for public benefit.
“We will fix everything with money that, if not saved, would be taken by corruptors, thieves, and robbers,” said Prabowo.
He said the government plans to prioritize the use of recovered funds for improving public facilities, particularly puskesmas (community health centers) and schools.
Prabowo said he had received reports that around 10,000 puskesmas across Indonesia had not been renovated since the era of former president Soeharto. He estimated that each renovation would cost about Rp2 billion, meaning roughly Rp20 trillion would be needed in total.
Referring to funds recovered by the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH), Prabowo said the Rp10.27 trillion collected in forestry administrative fines could already be used to renovate about 5,000 puskesmas.
“With Rp10 trillion, we can already complete 5,000 puskesmas,” he said.
Beyond health facilities, Prabowo said seized funds could also support the renovation of schools. He noted that the government is currently upgrading 70,000 schools this year, with plans to expand the program in the coming years, including madrasahs.
During Wednesday’s ceremony, the Satgas PKH handed over Rp10,279,951,886,464 in forestry fines. The funds were symbolically transferred by Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
The event also included the handover of 2.37 million hectares of forest land recovered through enforcement actions, which was transferred from the Attorney General’s Office to the Finance Ministry, and then symbolically handed to Rosan Roeslani, head of Indonesia’s sovereign investment agency BPI Danantara, and state-owned plantation company PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara.
Attorney General Burhanuddin said the stacks of cash displayed at the event were concrete evidence of asset recovery from the forestry and natural resources sectors.
“The pile of money in front of us is not merely ceremonial, but tangible proof of the PKH Task Force’s performance,” he said.
About a month earlier, on April 10, 2026, Prabowo also witnessed the handover of Rp11.4 trillion in recovered funds to the state treasury at the Attorney General’s Office, in a similar cash-display ceremony.
