TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Liverpool had to settle for a point after a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Anfield Stadium, Liverpool, on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Liverpool took the lead through Ryan Gravenberch, but Chelsea equalized through Enzo Fernandez, according to Premier League records.
The draw leaves both teams unchanged in fourth and ninth place in the Premier League standings.
Liverpool sits fourth with 59 points from 36 matches, already securing a Champions League spot next season.
Chelsea remains in ninth place with 49 points from 36 matches, two points above the bottom of the European competition.
Liverpool took an early lead in the sixth minute after Rio Ngumoha's cross was converted by Ryan Gravenberch. Liverpool had a chance to double their lead through Virgil van Dijk, but failed.
Chelsea posed a threat when Marc Cucurella's effort was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. Chelsea equalized in the 35th minute after Enzo Fernandez's free kick made it 1-1.
In the second half, Chelsea turned the game around through Cole Palmer's effort, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Liverpool then had a chance to regain the lead through Dominik Szoboszlai's shot, which hit the Chelsea goalpost.
In the remaining time, both Liverpool and Chelsea tried to come out on top, but the score remained 1-1.
