Disney Adventure Sets Sail Again from Singapore

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Disney Cruise Line has resumed operations after encountering technical issues that led to the cancellation of a scheduled voyage. The ship, built in 2025, continued its regular schedule by setting sail from Singapore on Monday, May 11, 2026. The itinerary included a two-day sail in the South China Sea before returning to Marina Bay.

In a statement to USA Today, Disney Adventure acknowledged the unpleasant situation faced by travelers. Therefore, the company worked directly with passengers to support their return travel needs. Additionally, Disney has extended invitations for the affected travelers to sail again in the future.

Prior to this, Disney Cruise Line suspended the operations of the 6,000-passenger capacity ship after experiencing technical issues on Friday, May 8, 2026. However, no clear explanation was provided for the cancellation of the four-night voyage.

Refund Offers

According to a report by the National Post, Disney Adventure passengers were offered a full refund for their cruise expenses. Additional prepaid unused expenses, such as photo packages, were also included. Furthermore, passengers were offered a 50% discount on future Disney cruises.

Disney also provided a complimentary one-night stay at the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach and similar hotels in the area. Other compensation included funds of up to US$500 per cabin for unforeseen expenses, as well as reimbursement for any related flight change fees.

Debut of the Disney Adventure

The Disney Adventure, the largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, began its voyages in mid-March 2026. According to Cruise Industry News, Singapore served as the starting point, marking the company's first operation in Asia. The tour packages are offered throughout the year and do not include port calls.

The Disney Adventure, weighing 208,000 gross tons, was originally ordered for the Dream Cruises brand of Genting Hong Kong. Disney acquired the ship at the end of 2022 and made significant changes to its design and features, engaging the Meyer Werft shipyard for the project. The ship's voyage is designed as a "destination journey" featuring seven themed areas, with facilities including a roller coaster and open-air performance venues.
