TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded that 55 neighborhood units (RT) in South Jakarta and West Jakarta were flooded due to heavy rain.
"The flooding was caused by heavy rainfall," said Mohamad Yohan, Head of the Disaster Data and Information Center of the Jakarta BPBD, in Jakarta on Monday, as quoted by ANTARA.
According to him, the heavy rain that hit the Jakarta area and its surroundings on Monday, May 4, caused a rise in the water level at Pesanggrahan Post (Alert 3) at 16.00 local time, Depok Post (Alert 3) at 17.00, Angke Hulu Post (Alert 3) at 17.00, and caused several floods in the Jakarta area.
He said that based on existing data, flooding had inundated 51 RTs in South Jakarta and 4 RTs in West Jakarta, in addition to which three roads were also submerged in floodwater.
"The height ranges from 30 to 120 cm," he said.
The Jakarta BPBD deployed personnel to monitor flooding conditions in each area and coordinated with the Water Resources Agency, the Public Works Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency to drain floodwaters and ensure that water channels were functioning properly.
"The Jakarta BPBD urges the public to remain cautious and alert to potential flooding. In an emergency, immediately call 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours a day," he said.
