Golden Visa Draws Rp52.1 Trillion, Says Immigration DG

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director-General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stated that the Golden Visa program has contributed significantly to the Indonesian economy. He noted that the initiative has already generated real investments valued at Rp52.1 trillion.

"At this point, we have reached the figure of Rp52.1 trillion," Hendarsam told journalists in Jakarta on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

According to Hendarsam, the Golden Visa scheme, rolled out in 2024, has paved the way for global talents, the diaspora, and foreign investors looking to contribute to the country. "And that is a pretty good figure to increase our foreign exchange reserves," he added.

In addition to capital investments, Hendarsam mentioned that the program has also generated Rp19 billion in non-tax state revenue (PNBP). He pointed out that the number of visa recipients has already surpassed the government's initial expectations.

"From an initial target of 1,000 recipients, the current figure has exceeded 1,200, meaning it has surpassed the target," he said.

The Golden Visa is a long-term residence permit granted to specific categories of foreign nationals, including investors, experts, global figures, as well as former Indonesian citizens and their descendants. The government issues this residency with a validity period of five to ten years, packed with various privileges for its holders.

These facilities include priority lanes at airports, streamlined immigration services, and legal certainty for investing and working in Indonesia.

Hendarsam emphasized that the Directorate General of Immigration has intensified its surveillance of foreign nationals to prevent visa misuse and legal violations. He explained that a monitoring team tracks foreign visitors from the moment they enter the country until their departure.

The immigration agency also collaborates with the police to crack down on permit abuse and criminal activities. Hendarsam cited recent enforcement actions against online gambling networks in Batam and West Jakarta as examples.

"We want to show that our country is not a safe haven for individuals who are not beneficial and even harmful to our nation," Hendarsam concluded.
